$25
Kiva has been in my sidebar for a while now. They are an organization that arranges microloans in the developing world. Today one of the businesspersons I've been sponsoring completed repayment of her loan. This means I can either cash out the portion I loaned to her, or loan the money to someone else.
I've reloaned to the Kiva business currently featured and moved to the top of my sidebar, where it will stay until her loan is fully funded. $300 down, $650 to go! If you are interested in financing Melvis, or any other Kiva client, the best part is that it only takes as little as $25.
Normally I don't post about this stuff, as there are so many good causes and ways to contribute to them, and we each do what we can. But, this is just one that fires me up, and maybe it will fire someone else up, too.

That's such a great idea. I decided to make a loan to Melvis as well.
Gordo! You rock! (Like I didn't already know that)
I can't say enough good things about microcredit. It's a women's economic issue I feel passionately about because microcredit loans are wildly successful and they take so very little to make work, mostly faith in women. I don't have a car, but if I did I would have it emblazoned with my favorite bumpersticker, "Try women for a change."
